From Lamy Press Release:
"Unfortunately, we have to bring you the sad news today that our highly esteemed former Managing Director and owner Dr. Manfred Lamy has passed away at the age of 84, surrounded by his family.
Dr. Manfred Lamy has written German corporate and design history - as a visionary and courageous entrepreneur, and as an outstanding personality.
In 1966, he laid the foundation for the success of our company with the LAMY 2000. Based on the Bauhaus idea of "form follows function", he placed the practical utility value in the foreground - and thus defined the clear design language that is still the basis for all Lamy writing instruments today.
In this way, he has driven and decisively shaped the development of C. Josef Lamy GmbH from a writing instrument manufacturer in Heidelberg to a design brand of international standing.
His extraordinary commitment, his work, and his passion will be a strong guiding principle for us in the future. We bow in respectful gratitude to his incomparable life's work. Our deepest condolences and thoughts are with his family.
In his spirit, the family and the 380 employees will honor and continue his life's work."
