This is a model of Western & Atlantic Railroad's "General" #3, an "American" 4-4-0 wheel arrangement steam locomotive built in 1855 by the Rogers Locomotive & Machine Works in New Jersey. It was famously commandeered at Big Shanty, GA during the American Civil War by northern troops with confederate troops following behind in what was called the Great Locomotive Chase. The locomotive was retired in 1891 and is now preserved at the Southern Museum of Civil War and Locomotive History in Kennesaw, GA.
